Do you have a cold, headache, flu or cramps… is it worth taking medication?

Let’s just jump back in time before answering the question! Don’t worry, reading the article won’t confront the material of a history lesson. We will only look back to the time of our grandmothers to examine what they did at the time when they were just suffering from a cold, headache, or other illness. They mostly sipped different herbal teas. Surely the image lives on in your memory when, as a child, your grandmother offered a good hot honey-lemon tea for all colds - accompanied, of course, by a delicious broth.

Instead, what are we doing today?

When the common cold tortures us, or we just want to cure our child of something sluggish as soon as possible, we immediately reach for the powders illustrated with a cup, often like a steaming tea, available in pharmacies to make a healing drink. But these powders do not contain tea or natural honey and lemon! But it is certainly a medicine that neither we nor our child should consume in mugs.

However, unfortunately, many people are not aware of the drug content of cold powders. After all, these preparations can be purchased by anyone without a prescription, as if they could be consumed in moderation and without any problems.

Plus, they’re deceptive because they don’t even taste like any medicine, as they’re as sweet as honey, and even the aroma of lemon can be felt from our steaming mug.

In fact, you must have experienced that they can even temporarily improve your well-being.

And because of this, many people don’t even read the dosing instructions on the back of the box or on the paper, which warns us about the maximum number of small sachets we can consume from them.

And even if someone reads it, they don’t necessarily take the warning seriously. After all, it’s just a little warm, lemon, delicious tea that makes us feel even better!

However, this can make a huge mistake.

Toxic drug ?!

Yes, unfortunately, paracetamol in high-dose beverage powders can be highly toxic in high doses! In addition, it is found not only in hot beverages, but also in other antipyretic and analgesic drugs, so the amount of paracetamol may even add up when taken together with beverage powders and drugs.

The most dangerous thing about paracetamol is that the difference between the still safe and the toxic dose is very small.

And how hard it is to stop not to drink that extra drink from a mug with a stuffy nose and scratching throat, choking on a cough…

But what happens in case of paracetamol overdose?

Exceeding the allowable amount unfortunately severely damages both our liver and kidneys. So much so that paracetamol poisoning is not recognized in time, it certainly leads to the death of the liver and kidneys, which is soon followed by coma and death.

In addition, anyone may find that it is more difficult for their body to break down paracetamol for some reason, causing them to reach a toxic dose sooner.

Knowing this, is it thought-provoking that perhaps our grandmothers did better than endure a few days longer to endure illness and pain, but did not poison their own liver and kidneys?

What else to avoid when it comes to relieving pain?

Unfortunately, paracetamol is not the only dangerous substance. Not to mention the side effects of many other drugs, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which are as popular as paracetamol, can also be terribly harmful to your health. And again, an active ingredient that anyone can access in pharmacies!

This is because non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are found in the most common anti-inflammatory drugs, but we take them regularly for fever, headaches, menstrual cramps, or any kind of pain.

Yet one of the uncommon side effects of NSAIDs is that they damage the lining of the stomach, which can cause severe ulcers. And this often involves a lot more pain than what we originally collected - be it even a mild headache.

In addition, the process does not usually stop when the ulcer develops! This is because a stomach bleeding or malignancy can develop at the site of an ulcer, which can be fatal.

It’s worth thinking about whether the exchange is really worth it.

What can you do about the pain then?

One of the most important things you can do is let your body heal! Believe that you can heal yourself without burdening you with any harmful substances.

However, what you can do to help your body is to strengthen your immune system so that it can act more quickly against various pathogens and inflammation. This can also relieve your pain and the symptoms of that stubborn cold sooner.

However, when it comes to boosting your immune system, you should still turn to vegetables and fruits instead of all kinds of capsules. The easiest way to do this is to start the day with a teaspoon of vegetable and fruit concentrate every morning. Click here to find out what else you should consume them for!
